Foreign Payments

Foreign payments are intended for:

Characteristics of foreign payments:

  • cashless transfer of funds in EUR to and from abroad outside the SEPA area*
  • cashless transfer of funds in a foreign currency to and from abroad and within the Slovak Republic (excluding transfers between accounts Komerční banka, a.s., pobočka zahraničnej banky
  • ensured by the SWIFT system
  • Komerční banka, a.s., pobočka zahraničnej banky executes foreign payments in the following basic currencies:
    • AUD, CAD, CZK, CHF, DKK, EUR, GBP, HUF, JPY, NOK, PLN, SEK, USD, RON, RUB, BGN and TRY
    • in other currencies, subject to special conditions:
  • prices are set according to the type of payment or service as per the valid Price list of Komerční banka, a.s., pobočka zahraničnej banky
As part of foreign payments, Komerční banka, a.s., pobočka zahraničnej banky provides:
  • one-off foreign payments
  • discounted payments for/from clients of Komerční banka in the Czech Republic
    • fees for payments are comparable with prices for SEPA payments
    • payments in favour of client accounts at Komerční banka in the Czech Republic are executed as urgent payments with no surcharge
  • foreign payments based on a standing order submitted on a written order

  • possibility of submitting orders via electronic banking (via Profibanka)
  • lower fees for processing in comparison with documentary payments
  • discounted payments for/from clients of Komerční banka in the Czech Republic
  • possibility to set up a standing order to an account located abroad
  • simplicity of payment clearing
  • possibility of submitting payments with a future due date
  • no need to submit documents

Foreign payments allow clients to:

Make payments from abroad and within the Slovak Republic in a foreign currency:
  • payments from abroad are cleared in the client's account without delay over the course of the due date, after the bank has received the payment instruction and funds
  • a payment from abroad in a foreign currency or in EUR is cleared in the account of a client of Komerční banka, a.s., pobočka zahraničnej banky, or a cheque is drawn up – according to the payer's instruction
  • Komerční banka, a.s., pobočka zahraničnej banky credits the funds in the beneficiary's account only if the Unique Identifier is used correctly
  • the fee for processing the payment is billed according to the payer's instruction (BEN, SHA, OUR)
  • Komerční banka, a.s., pobočka zahraničnej banky recommends that clients inform their business partners of the Unique Identifier (account number of a client in IBAN format that is maintained at Komerční banka, a.s., pobočka zahraničnej banky and the BIC bank identifier code known as the swift code: KOMBSKBAXXX (KOMBSKBA for the eight-character alternative)
Make payments to an account located abroad and within the Slovak Republic in a foreign currency:
  • payments to an account located abroad are processed on the basis of a written payment order submitted at a branch or in electronic format sent via electronic banking (via Profibanka)
  • Komerční banka, a.s., pobočka zahraničnej processes payment orders within the time limits stipulated by the Payment Services Act and set out in the Notice on the Payment Transactions
  • the fee level depends on the type of payment and choice of fee type submitted by the payer (BEN, SHA, OUR)
  • when filling out the payment order, the payer selects the payment processing speed (STANDARD, EXPRESS, URGENT)
  • the processing method and the fees charged for the foreign payment are influenced by the client when entering the Unique Identifier, i.e. the correct and complete entry of data about the payment recipient (the beneficiary's account number in IBAN format and the BIC bank identifier code or the beneficiary's account number and bank code in a format that is used locally)
  • the beneficiary's account number in IBAN format and the BIC bank identifier code has to be stated for payments to EEA** countries
Types of processing fees and execution times:
  • fees: the payment is charged according to the type of fee chosen; if the client does not indicate the fee type, SHA is set as the fee type
    • BEN: all fees are settled by the recipient (cannot be used for payments within EEA)
    • SHA: the payer settles the fees of the payer's bank, the beneficiary settles the fees of the beneficiary's bank or intermediary bank; always indicated in the case of payments to EEA countries and in the currency of the EEA country, which does not include currency conversion
    • OUR: all fees are settled by the payer (cannot be used for payments within EEA)
  • execution times for making payments in favour of the beneficiary account
    • STANDARD
      • no later than three Business Days after the due date of the order
    • EXPRES
      • no later than one Business Day after the due date of the order
    • URGENT
      • on the same Business Day as the due date of the order
      • urgent processing is only possible in CZK, CHF, DKK, EUR, GBP, NOK, RUB, SEK and USD
